The purpose of the Ambizione grant is to help researchers build their scientific profile and become scientifically self-reliant at an early stage with an <strong>independent research project</strong>. (including 25% overhead), may be requested for well justified reasons; additional funding covers for example start-up costs for PIs moving to Switzerland as a consequence of receiving the ERC grant, purchase of major equipment, access to large facilities, other major experimental and field work costs including personnel costs. For applicants relocating to the EU or a Horizon Europe Associated country, additional funding for up to EUR 2 million can be requested.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<strong>Eligibility</strong>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Applicants must have successfully defended their PhD not more than 10 years ago. Thanks to this status, researchers in Switzerland are entitled to participate in COST Actions or to coordinate them and submit applications for new Actions. Doctoral candidates are exposed to the academic and non-academic sector to develop competences for innovation and to enhance employability.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThere are 3 sub schemes for the MSCA DNs:\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><strong>Standard</strong> → PhD students must be enrolled for doctoral studies, the doctoral program includes secondments to project partners.</li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Industrial</strong> → PhD students must be enrolled for doctoral studies; they must spend 50% of their time in the non-academic sector.</li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Joint Doctorates</strong> → PhD students must be enrolled for doctoral studies which lead to a “joint doctoral degree”.
