For decades, optical invisibility cloaking has been mere science fiction. With the rise of the mathematical concept of transformation optics in 2006, it has become scientific reality.
Since then, experimental realizations have emerged. In this talk, I give an introduction into this field, describe the experimental state-of-the-art, and outline down-to-earth applications,
such as invisibility cloaking of metal contacts on solar cells and light-emitting devices.
