Date 23.10.2019
Category Call for proposal

The Dementia Consortium provides funding, resources and expertise to both increase the number of, and capitalise upon, new drug targets emerging from across the academic sector that hold promise of bringing benefit to patients suffering from Alzheimer.

Applications must fall within Alzheimer’s Research UK’s funding remit which covers biomedical research in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Of particular importance is research which has translational potential for patient benefit.

This includes basic preclinical as well as clinical research, however care or service delivery research falls outside of the foundation’s remit.

Who can apply: Applications are acceptable from applicants based at established research institutions worldwide. The Lead Applicant is expected to have a contract (fixed term or tenure) which covers the proposed duration of the grant. If the Lead Applicant does not hold a tenure appointment, the application must include a co-applicant that does.

Funding and duration: The duration and amount will be determined at full application stage. Typical projects will be up to two years in duration and cost £100,000-£250,000. There is a notional limit of £500,000 for exceptional cases.

Eligible costs: personnel (excl. the PI’s salary), animals, equipment, consumables and other project-related costs. Does not cover travel to conferences and overheads.

Deadline for expression of interests: 23 October 2019 (new deadline every three months)

For further information and application, please have a look at the call webpage, eligibility guidelines and FAQs. For target validation and drug discovery projects, please apply via the Dementia Consortium.
