SEMINAR of the LAUSANNE INTEGRATIVE METABOLISM and NUTRITION ALLIANCE (LIMNA)

The focal adhesion kinase (FAK) plays a role in cancer progression in various cell models and is implicated in insulin signaling. Furthermore, appropriately timed activation of FAK is critical for skeletal muscle hypertrophy and differentiation of myoblasts into myotubes. This seminar will share our related discoveries that AMPK negatively regulates FAK activation, and that FAK impairs palmitate oxidation in skeletal muscle cells.
