### THIS IS A PILOT TEST - THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IS FICTITIOUS! ###
How does the air interact with the ground over cold surfaces? A three-month experimental campaign on the ABC Glacier in Valais, aims to unravel turbulent transport of heat and humidity – factors that play a key role in the melting of Switzerland’s glaciers. Six scientists from the  Avalanche Institute are involved are involved in the project, running experiments, maintaining the infrastructure and digging it out of the snow when needed. Other aims:
  • Penetration of the wind into the ice
  • Testing a wireless sensor network under extreme conditions
