The Leading House ETH Zurich and the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) have together established an instrument for funding the exchange of young scientists between Japan and Switzerland.

This funding scheme mainly targets PhD students (PostDocs and Master students may also be accepted with justification) in any discipline currently working in research groups at Swiss Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences or Research Institutes and wishing to apply for a research stay in a Janpanese institution. Similarly, Japanese young researchers can apply JSPS for a stay in Switzerland.

JSPS will provide the following support to Swiss fellows:

maintenance allowance: 220'000 JPY (CHF 1'870) per month
international air ticket
overseas travel insurance
The duration of the stay in Japan can be between 3 to 6 months.
