Digitalizza la cultura 2025: Partecipazione, diversità e patrimoni digitali
Participation, diversity and digital heritage

Thursday, October 30, 2025, 09:00

Stabile Piazzetta, Via Violino 11, Manno (TI)

An initiative of the Dipartimento dell'educazione, della cultura e dello sport (DECS) of the Canton of Ticino, Divisione della cultura e degli studi universitari (DCSU), organized by the Ufficio dell’analisi e del patrimonio culturale digitale (UAPCD), in collaboration with the Bachelor in Leisure Management of the Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI).

The conference “Digitalizza la cultura 2025” aims to explore the ongoing transformations in the cultural sector in light of the twentieth anniversary of two major international instruments: the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, adopted in Paris on October 20, 2005, and the Faro Convention, opened for signature on October 27, 2005. The event will examine how archives, libraries, and museums can become laboratories of innovation and collaboration, developing new forms of digital storytelling and community participation.

Twenty years after the signing of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and the Council of Europe Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society, the cultural landscape has undergone profound transformations. Both instruments, signed in 2005, laid the foundations for a new understanding of cultural heritage: no longer merely an object of preservation, but a living resource for democratic participation and the expression of cultural diversity.

The fourth conference in the “Digitalizza la cultura” series situates itself within this historical perspective to highlight good practices that combine cultural diversity, community participation, and digital transformation. Special attention will be given to audiovisual heritage, on the occasion of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, celebrated on October 27, 2025.

How can cultural organizations act as catalysts for a broader and more inclusive cultural citizenship? In what ways can digital practices support – or sometimes challenge – the principles established twenty years ago? What experiences can inspire sustainable strategies capable of building bridges between memory, identity, and the future?

These are some of the questions that will guide a day of presentations and dialogue with the public.
