The objective of the EFSD/JDRF/Lilly European Programme in Type 1 Diabetes Research is to:
- promote the highest quality of basic biomedical and clinical research on type 1 diabetes conducted in Europe and its associated countries;
- expedite the practical application of scientific advances in our understanding of the aetiology, pathogenesis, treatment and prevention of type 1 diabetes and its complications;
- encourage clinical translational research bridging the bench and the bedside;
- increase awareness of type 1 diabetes research throughout Europe.
Who can apply:
- Applicants employed full time at non-profit institutions in EU and Associated Countries.
- Applicants to all EFSD programmes must be paid-up members of EASD.
- Only one EFSD award per PI or Co-PI at a time.
- There can be more than one EFSD award per lab, but for separate projects.
Funding:
- Max. EUR 100’000 for basic research.
- Max. EUR 400’000 for clinical research with a funding requirement exceeding EUR 100K.
Eligible costs: personnel, including social charges, 10% overheads, equipment, supplies, other project-related costs. The budget must be prepared in EUR and it must mention the exchange rate.
