As part of the Swiss federal government's Environment Research Concept 2021-2024, the Swiss Federal Office of Environment is launching a call for research projects in applied landscape research.
The FOEN is interested in any research projects that fall within the priority research themes set out in the Federal Research Master Plan. In the context of this call for proposals, three cross-cutting questions are addressed:
- "4°C or +": What will the Swiss landscape look like in 2050 and 2100? For this theme, visual representations of the research results for communication purposes are desired.
- How can the value of the landscape be measured and objectified? Here the FOEN wishes to further develop and concretise the study by A. Barranzini's study in order to strengthen the consideration of landscape in regional development and planning processes.
- How can the contribution of landscape to human health be measured and what is the value of this landscape service?
Funding: up to CHF 100’000.- yearly
Submission process:
- An anonymised project pre-proposal of approximately two pages, describing the research problem, its objectives, data and methods, an estimated budget and a schedule, should be sent by 9 April 2021 at the latest to [email protected] . Applicants' CVs should be provided as an annex to this pre-proposal.
- An internal jury will evaluate the pre-proposals on the basis of our priorities and the relevance, coherence and quality of the research design and will make its decision by 23 April 2021 at the latest.
- Selected project leaders will then be invited to submit a full research proposal (max. 20 pages) to be provided by 13 June 2021 at the latest.
