Fondation Leducq is a private charitable foundation, based in Paris, dedicated to improving human health through international efforts to combat cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. In support of this mission, Fondation Leducq has created the Transatlantic Networks of Excellence in Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Research Program, which promotes internationally collaborative basic, translational, and clinical research in cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. The proposals should aim to generate new knowledge with the potential to advance the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. It should be high risk, but not speculative, and oriented to long-term goals.
 
Who can apply:

  • An international team of 3-6 researchers, affiliated with an academic research centre worldwide, having complementary multidisciplinary expertise and resources.
  • The team must be led by 2 coordinators, one based in Europe and the other in North America.
  • The participation of an early-career researcher (from postdocs to recently appointed faculty) will be positively evaluated.
  • The network may include members from fields outside of cardiovascular and neurovascular research, such as other medical specialties, physics, engineering or information technology.
 
Funding & Duration: up to USD 6,000,000 over 5 years.

  • Applicants must show that other peer review funding has been secured.
 
Deadline:
  • Deadline for Letter of Intent: 5 September 2018 (apply via proposalCENTRAL, following the programme guidelines, the LoI instructions and the FAQs).
  • Deadline for Full Proposals: 14 February 2019 (only shortlisted applicants – approx. 14 out of 100-120 - will be invited to submit a full proposal).
