Research stipends from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation are an instrument used to support highly qualified individual junior scholars that have doctoral degrees over a limited period of time. They are to be offered the opportunity to fully concentrate on the research project they have selected.
The Foundation supports projects at universities or non-profit research institutions in the following areas of support:
Applications must have a clear connection to the German research system:
Who can apply: postdoctoral researchers who have received their doctoral degree no more than 2 years before the call deadline.
Funding and Duration: € 1,800 per month for 1-2 years + a lump sum allowance of € 200 per month for material and travel costs. Does not cover overheads.
Rolling call: applications for stipends can be submitted at any time. An answer is generally provided within 8 weeks.

- The interdisciplinary field “Image–Sound–Language”
- State, Economy and Society
- Medicine and the Natural Sciences
