Geneva AI Initiative – Call for Proposals
The Geneva AI Initiative by the EPFL AI Center aims to strengthen AI capabilities of international organizations and NGOs based in Geneva. It seeks to provide these organizations with access to cutting-edge AI expertise and resources from EPFL and its partner institutions to enhance their operational effectiveness and mission impact.
This new call for proposals seeks innovative AI projects that address challenges faced by these organizations in their operations and missions.

Scope
Proposals are welcome from all sectors relevant to international cooperation and governance, but each project should clearly demonstrate how AI technology will be applied to address specific challenges faced by the applying organization.
Given the urgency of the challenges and the rapid pace of AI developments, particular interest is placed on collaborative projects that can demonstrate a short time to impact. Proposals should clearly express the AI needs of the IO or NGO and outline an expedited path from development to implementation, emphasizing both responsible AI practices and rapid, tangible results.

Who can apply
This call is open to international organizations (IO) and NGOs based in Geneva. Consortia of multiple Geneva-based international organizations or NGOs are welcome to apply, but a single organization must be designated as the lead applicant.

AI expertise
The project proposal must demonstrate access to AI expertise through a Partnership with either EPFL or another recognized AI expert.
Since the main applicant does not need to have a technical background in AI, the Geneva AI Initiative can facilitate matchmaking between applicants and appropriate AI expertise from EPFL or its partners as needed. For matchmaking requests, please contact [email protected] by Friday 29 November.

How to apply
Application guidelines and templates can be found on the programme webpage. Proposals need to be submitted via the online submission platform.

Funding and duration
Short-term projects (max. 12 months) with a maximum budget of CHF 300’000 each will be funded.

Deadline
Friday 10 January (17:00 CET)
