Theories with internal Galileon symmetry possess interesting theoretical and phenomenological properties, which have been extensively studied. However, once coupling to gravity is introduced, the symmetry can only be approximate and one may ask what happens to the flat-space properties.
In the first part of the talk we discuss this topic, introducing the notion of Weakly Broken Galileon (WBG) invariance, which characterises the unique class of couplings of such theories to gravity that maximally retain their defining symmetry.
In the second part, we apply a generic theory with WBG symmetry to Cosmology, concentrating in particular on Inflation: adopting an effective field theory point of view, we analyse the physical consequences and compare the predictions to the recent observational results.
