The International Foundation for Research in Paraplegia allocates funds to support basic and clinical research in the field of neurosciences and the regeneration of the spinal cord all over the world.

Deadline: 31 October 2018 (for all IRP calls)

IRP RESEARCH GRANTS support:

  • Research projects on every aspect of CNS and spinal cord lesions, nerve regeneration, trophic support of lesioned neurons, and functional changes induced by lesions, preferentially in mammals.
  • Clinical research projects in the fields of diagnosis, acute lesion management including surgery, neurology, urology, rehabilitation, and other areas related to paraplegia.
Funding: up to 75’000 CHF for one year or 150’000 CHF for two years.

IRP POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS support:
  • A fellowship for up to 2 years in an outstanding basic research laboratory specialised in one or several aspects of CNS and spinal cord lesions and repair, preferentially in mammals. A 3rd year may be attributed to a fellow who returns to Switzerland from abroad.
  • A 1 year fellowship in a clinical research laboratory situated in the fields of diagnosis and acute lesion management of spinal cord injury, including surgery, neurology, urology, rehabilitation, and other areas related to paraplegia.
Funding: 70’000.- CHF/year (living allowance) +  up to 9’000.- CHF/year (research and travel) + family support and child allowance
Duration: up to 3 years (non renewable)

IRP SCHELLENBERG RESEARCH PRIZE 2018
The Prize recognizes recent achievements in the cellular, molecular and clinical aspects of spinal cord development, plasticity and regeneration following lesions.
Who can apply: young but established group leaders with outstanding achievements in experimental or clinical research related to spinal cord injury and repair.
Funding: CHF 100’000 for research purposes (personnel, equipment or supplies).
