Leducq Foundation for Cardiovascular Research is an international grant-making organization dedicated to improving human health through international efforts to combat cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. In support of this mission, Fondation Leducq has created the International Networks of Excellence in Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Research Program, (formerly the Transatlantic Networks of Excellence in Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Research Program), which promotes internationally collaborative basic, translational, and clinical research in cardiovascular and neurovascular disease.
In the 2021-2022 application cycle, the Leducq Foundation will award four International Network of Excellence grants, each for an amount not to exceed USD 7,500,000 over five years.
The proposals should aim to generate new knowledge with the potential to advance the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular and neurovascular disease.
Who can apply:
- An international team of 3-6 researchers, affiliated with an academic research center worldwide, having complementary multidisciplinary expertise and resources.
- The team must be led by 2 coordinators from different continents.
- The participation of an early-career researcher (from postdocs to recently appointed faculty) will be positively evaluated.
Funding & Duration: up to USD 7,500,000 over 5 years.

- Applicants must show that other peer review funding has been secured.
- No budget information is requested at the letter of intent stage. A budget is required only as part of a full application.
Deadline:
- Deadline for Letter of Intent: 7 September 2021 (apply via proposalCENTRAL, following the programme description, the LoI instructions and the FAQs).
- Deadline for Full Proposals: 14 February 2022 (only 8-14 shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal).
- Decision: May 2022
- Starting of the grant: 1 January 2023
