The talk describes two long term monitoring exercises on long or tall structures focusing on the dynamic performance, the operational modal analysis and the interpretation of the performance trends in relation to operational and environmental states that affect the structure.
The aim of the talk is to show that the experimental and data gathering aspects of structural monitoring are only the beginning of the story in unraveling the 'mechanisms' at work in the structure and which directly relate to optimal maintenance and management of the structure.
