Supervised machine learning approaches have led to huge advances in many AI applications over the last 20 years, yet there are many domains where supervised training data is scarce, unavailable, or prohibitively costly. Therefore, developing improved unsupervised techniques is critical. This talk will focus on unsupervised learning from sequence data, and how ideas from Bayesian statistics can be used to improve the latent structures that are identified.
