Abstract Sports fields exhibit many unexpected problems of physics. In order to assist champions in their quest of performances, we try to answer their questions, by understanding the physical mechanisms behind their empirical practice and the optimisation they choose. I will present some of these questions: How to avoid brain concussion? How to improve the sliding of ski on snow? How to produce the maximal force in a scrum?
