Control of the plasma density profile is necessary to maintain the desired stable plasma conditions during a discharge, compensating for varying wall conditions and particle fluxes. A control-oriented, model-based approach is employed to design a model-based dynamic density reconstruction algorithm and a feedback controller. Simulations and offline analysis using interferometry measurements show the performance and tuning tradeoffs of the density profile reconstruction. Closed-loop simulations for TCV show the feedback controller performance using gas injection.
