Category Call for proposal

The Federal Council has mandated the SNSF to launch a call for the National Research Programme "Covid-19 in Society" (NRP 80).

The overall goal of NRP 80 is to provide evidence-based guidance and action knowledge to policy makers and relevant institutions and organisations to support the best possible management of the Covid-19 pandemic, but also of future pandemics in Switzerland. The programme sets out to provide valuable insights regarding all societal dimensions, processes and measures for handling pandemics and for supporting a sustainable societal development in the face of such global risks. NRP 80 focuses on the situation in Switzerland from social sciences and humanities perspectives within the global societal and academic context.

The call targets research in three interconnected modules:

  1. Supporting responsible human behaviour
  2. Supporting individual and collective welfare
  3. Supporting crisis management and lasting change.

Projects may not only address questions related to one module but may also have a bearing on the thematic clusters listed in other modules. The NRP will strengthen synergies and ensure close coordination between projects from different modules.

Funding: CHF 300K – 500K but budgets below or above this range are possible if sufficiently justified.

Duration: 36 months starting December 2022 (earliest starting date).

Deadline for pre-proposals: 24 January 2022 at 17:00 Swiss local time.
