Over/About is the title of all our lectures until today or name it one long lecture going on now since years, changing a little every time we are asked to talk about our work. About what is it really about? Or can you talk about this and that. About the ‘one’, about the ‘other’. About lots of things that have nothing to do with each other. And later on yet do.
About what that work might talk about or could tell, and always slightly different than what we said before. Over/About is the most confronting question but at the same time an answer to a never conclusive answer on the question asked over and over again: about.

‘It is confusing when someone whose books are on your shelves calls you personally to say the sketches you draw make an impression on her.’ This was Jan De Vylder’s reaction when invited to the 12th International Architectural Biennale in Venice by its curator Kazuyo Sejima. His firm had often appeared in the press with its production studio for Les Ballets C de la B and Lod. in Ghent and their 1000 sq. m. villa in Ordos Inner Mongolia China, but for Jan De Vylder, now de vylder vinck taillieu architects, this appears to have been only the first international step.

Architecten de vylder vinck taillieu may also bring together various prizes and nominations: Belgian Prize for architecture (first prize 2007; nominations 2009, 2011); Belgian Building Awards (2009, 2010), Provincial Award of Architecture East-Flanders (2005, 2007; nomination 2011). Special is the nomination for European Prize for Architecture Mies van der Rohe Award 2009 for Les Ballets C de la B and LOD. A special moment for architecten de vylder vinck taillieu was the invitation by Kazuyo Sejima for la Biennale di Venezia 2010 for her exhibition people meet in architecture.
