Abstract :
A small sphere would sediment vertically down in viscous fluid. We will discuss the fun sedimentation of non-spherical particles. We will then talk about particle-laden shear flow where new modes of instability appear which are absent in clean flow.

Rama Govindarajan is a Professor at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bengaluru, India. Her research area is Fluid Dynamics. She is an Associate Editor at Physical Review Fluids and on the Editorial Committee of the Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics.
