Solid Oxide Fuel Cell system Perspectives in Japan: Different types of fuel cell systems have been developed for a long time, due to their potential of high efficiency. Among them, SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell) will be a main system for the future, because of its high efficiency. The market size is still small. However, it is expected to become rapidly large from the standpoint of improvement progress of efficiency, stability, life time, design and cost. Now a decentralized power generation is important and for that, fuel cell systems are useful. In Japan, a large scale power generation of SOFC combined cycle has become important after the accident of the Fukushima nuclear power station. In this presentation SOFC system perspectives in Japan will be presented.
