The ETH-Domain Strategic Focus Area in Personalized Health and Related Technologies (PHRT) launches his 2nd call to support research projects in the field of personalized health. In order to make the best use of the available resources and allow ETH Domain institutions to collaborate more fruitfully with other initiatives, the call is coordinated with the 2nd Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) call for proposals. Scientists from all ETH Domain institutions are encouraged to apply. Partnerships with groups outside the ETH-Domain (hospitals, public and private institutions) are recommended and desired, however PHRT funds can only be used within the ETH-Domain (contributions through owns funds). A total of up to CHF 13.5 million will be made available to support the following project categories:

(1) Education – Fellowship (iDoc for PhD projects, Transition Postdoc Fellowship TPdF for Postdocs)
    Funding amount: salary of the PhD or postdoc + max. 10 kCHF of consumables
    Duration: iDoc, max. 36 months; TPdF, max. 36 months

(2) Technology Translation (translate pioneering technologies to “clinical level” of performance)
    Funding amount: max. 500 kCHF
    Duration: max. 24 months

(3) Personalized Medicine/Health research projects (projects with high direct clinical relevance)
    Funding amount: max. 2 MCHF
    Duration: max. 24 months

Earliest starting date is December 2018.

Additional funding can be requested from the SPHN program. See SPHN Memento for details. In case of SPHN-PHRT joint applications, the same application must be submitted in parallel to both programs.
 
For TPdF funding request, a Commitment Letter from the Hosting Institution is required. This letter will be delivered providing that all necessary documents are submitted to the Research Office no later than June 20th 2018.
