The first part of this presentation will outline the research being carried out at the Centre for Hypersonics at The University of Queensland in Australia. This will include the description of a Scramjet engine and the flight and ground testing programs at UQ. Leading on from this, the main part of the presentation will focus on the diagnostic technique developed during my PhD and postdoc to measure vacuum ultraviolet radiation incident on the surface of a model in a superorbital expansion tube. A similar system was also developed for operation on a plasma torch at Ecole Centrale Paris and some of the design challenges and results of this work will be presented. The final part of this presentation will introduce my role at CRPP and some objectives for my time here. In particular, I will describe the SPRED spectroscopy system and the bolometer array and what I hope to achieve with these two systems.
