"Foundation-owned firms as hybrid firms: antecedents, characteristics and governance mechanisms"
Authors:
Ann-Kristin Achleitner, Jörn Block, Florian Hosseini, and Nadine Kammerlander
Abstract:
Hybrid firms are gaining momentum as an organizational form. So far, the discussion in organization research about hybrid firms has focused almost exclusively on social entrepreneurship. Foundation-owned firms constitute another important type of hybrid firm. Using qualitative data from interviews with CEOs and supervisory board members of several high-profile foundation-owned firms we discuss the antecedents, characteristics, and governance mechanisms of foundation-owned firms.
