In statistical shape analysis we want methods to quantify how different two shapes are. In this talk I will outline a method using the topological tool of persistent homology. I will define the Persistent Homology Transform, which considers a family of persistence diagrams constructed from height functions in different directions. This transform is injective, stable, and can effectively describe geometrical features without the use of landmarks.
The talk will end with a variety of example applications.
