Supersymmetry is one of the favored principles for an extension of the standard model of particle physics and it provides an interesting perspective for the general understanding of quantum filed theories. There is a large number of perturbative investigations of supersymmetric theories, but only limited access to the non-perturbative regime of strongly interacting supersymmetric gauge theories. In my talk I will present the results of recent lattice simulations of N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and discuss the main challenges in the simulation of this theory. The newest data are consistent with a formation of supersymmetric bound state multiplets. In addition to the bound state spectrum, I will also show interesting results concerning the phase transitions of this supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. In the end I will also explain the relation of these studies to Technicolour extensions of the standard model
