With the «Young Talents in Clinical Research» program, the SAMS and the Gottfried and Julia Bangerter-Rhyner Foundation aim at encouraging young medical doctors to venture into clinical research by funding «protected time for research» and «project grants» at a clinic in Switzerland.
The Beginner grant at a glance:
- Who can apply: medical degree obtained after 29 June 2013 (flexible in justified cases).
- Duration: 1-2 years
- Funding: max. CHF 75’000 (2/3 as a grant and 1/3 as an interest-free loan).
- For what: the applicant’s salary related to research.
- Does NOT cover: consumables and equipment.
Restrictions:
- Basic research is NOT eligible: research must involve test subjects or material of human origin; the researcher must enter into contact with patients.
- Eligible research fields: patient-oriented, epidemiological, outcome-based or healthcare research.
Deadline: 30 June 2018
Earliest start: between 1 January 2019 and 1 January 2020
Application:
- Fill out the online application form following the guidelines.
- Join a budget specifying the percentage of your salary reserved for research and the corresponding requested amount.
- Join a letter of support from an experienced mentor at the host clinic, following the FAQs.
