Fondation Botnar is launching #TheBotnarChallenge to find innovative solutions with AI and digital technology to improve the health and wellbeing of young people in Tanzania.
 
The successful teams of applicants will send two members to the World Summit AI in Amsterdam (Netherlands, October 10-11, 2018) or to the Sahara Sparks 2018 in Dar es salaam (Tanzania, October 11-13, 2018) to pitch their idea. The Foundation will cover the cost of the flight and hotel for the duration of the conference.
 
Each conference will yield a winning team, which will receive CHF 10’000 seed money to fund their idea. Winners will be selected by a live Jury during the respective conference.
 
Who can apply: teams of 2-6 members, with at least one female member, from any country, most of whom ages 18-30, including:

  • University students in public health, social sciences, development studies, international relations and engineering fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.
  • Employees from non-profits, for-profit organizations, B corporations, social enterprises, Start-Ups, impact hubs, accelerators and young entrepreneurs.
 
Deadline to submit your idea: 31 July 2018, 11:59 p.m. CEST
Announcement semi-finalists: 6 August 2018, noon CEST
Iteration submission deadline: 9 September 2018, 11:59 p.m. CEST
Announcement finalists: 12 September 2018, noon CEST
Announcement winner World Summit AIT: 10 October 2018, noon CEST
Announcement winner Sahara Sparks: 12 October 2018, noon CEST
 
Application: to submit your idea you must
  • register on the application portal
  • enter the team membership affiliation, motivation and description
  • upload your concept proposal and
  • select your preferred conference.
