The Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) Conference Travel Grants are aimed at early career scientists wanting to attend scientific meetings, conferences, workshops and courses relating to the areas of research covered by the journal around the world.
Who can apply:
- PhD students and early career post-doctoral researchers (please join a support letter from the head of the unit)
- independent group leaders and
- PIs with no independent funding.
Funding: £400 within the home country and £600 for meetings overseas.
Eligible costs: registration fees (excluding membership costs), travel, accommodation, other.
Restrictions:
- The date of travel must occur within six months from the award.
- There must be only one application per laboratory.
- Applicants should not have received other funding from The Company of Biologists in the past 12 months.
Evaluation criteria: Each application will be judged on the excellence of the candidate and any work being presented in a talk or poster.
Deadlines:
- 7 February 2020 (for travel after 20 March 2020)
- 15 May 2020 (for travel after 29 June 2020)
- 21 August 2020 (for travel after 5 October 2020)
- 8 November 2020 (for travel after 14 December 2020)
Note that the Decision takes 6 weeks.
