Failing  to  address  the  role  of  societal  change  will  make reaching the targets set in the Paris Agreement more difficult. Preliminary results of the EU Calculator model indicate that changes in individual behavior have comparable greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction  potential  to  those  from  ambitious technological deployment in transport and agriculture. In both cases, the reductions in GHG come associated with important tradeoffs regarding investment costs, biodiversity, water and - perhaps more importantly for the ongoing debate - time. The presentation will introduce the EUCalculator model and other outcomes of the EUcalc project.
