Do you see commercialization potential for your research? And you would like to know how to protect your intellectual property (IP)? Then this event is for you!
Indeed, patenting and licensing are very important in the context of your research, and are fundamental to protect your invention. The goal of this webinar is to help you understand more about patenting and licensing and to offer you the opportunity to ask your questions to our guests from the EPFL Technology Transfer Office (TTO), who are IP experts.
The two main topics of this webinar will be organized as follow:
Patenting:
This part focuses around four axes, in order to define and clarify the most important, albeit complex, patent-related topics of general interest:
- What is a patent and what is an invention?
- Patentability criteria
- Patentability vs. freedom to operate: can I use my invention?
- Procedural aspects: patent filing and strategy
Licensing:
Transferring new technologies to impact the society is an important mission of EPFL.
Licensing to industry and startups is the most common way to transfer technologies, as it opens the path to the market and it is an absolute reward for innovators.
This seminar starts from the essential components of licensing, and goes down to term-sheets and license agreements.
