Category Conferences - Seminars
In Lyon, France, the OTHU project was launched in 1999 with the aim to organise a long term multi-disciplinary collaboration between researchers and practitioners to develop knowledge and change practice in the field of urban hydrology, with a special focus on stormwater.
The presentation will be organised in three parts:
  • the first part will i) explain how the OTHU project is organised and managed on the long term, ii) present the monitoring sites and equipment, and the main research themes, and iii) show how applied research programmes are defined in close collaboration between researchers and with the operator of the urban drainage system.
  • the second part will present a short selection of results obtained in the OTHU project, especially regarding i) pollutants loads in urban wet weather discharges and ii) settling of solids in stormwater detention tanks. Key aspects will be continuous on-line monitoring of water quality, results obtained from long term time series, and CFD modelling of settling process in a large stormwater tank.
  • the third part will introduce on-going research actions devoted to modelling of urban wet weather discharges quantity and quality, with focus on questions linked to model calibration, assessment of uncertainties, model selection and refinement.
