Category Call for proposal

The Waterloo Foundation (TWF) was established in Cardiff (UK) in 2007. It supports projects worldwide that help reduce the disparity of opportunities and wealth and the unsustainable use of the world’s natural resources. To this end, the foundation publishes calls within the following grant programmes: world development, environment and child development.

Applications are currently open for the Child Development Fund for basic and applied research projects on the following topics:

1. Motor Impairments

  • studies that improve our understanding of the aetiology of the disorder (this could include brain imaging, improved phenotyping, genetic or epigenetic studies). Inclusion of EEG measures and consideration of possible co-occurrence with Rolandic Epilepsy is particularly desirable, as well as studies that consider co-occurrence with other neurodevelopmental disorders; or
  • Studies that explore effective interventions (those that also include links to our other research interests would be particularly sought after for example sleep, diet, exercise/movement).
2. Diet and/or Microbiome
  • studies that consider the effect of diet and/or the microbiome on neurodevelopmental disorders. Those that consider these areas on child psychological outcomes (behavioural, emotional or cognitive) will also be welcomed.
  • studies that explore the influence of prenatal factors and in a range of vitamins and minerals (including but not limited to Omega-3, Vitamin D and Iodine).
