Higher dimensional theories add new degrees of freedom to the low energy effective theory that need to be stabilized. Adding fluxes to the theory allows for the possibility of finding perturbatively stable vacua. In this talk we will describe the possible non-perturbative instabilities that exists in these models as well as their possible cosmological consequences.
