Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the 2024 Traumatic Brain Injury and Psychological Health Research Program (TBIPH). Several award programs are available:
- The Clinical Trial Award aims to to support the rapid implementation of clinical trials with the potential to have a significant impact on psychological health conditions and/or TBI through clinical applications, including health care products, technologies, and/or practice guidelines. Proposed research can be aligned with TBI, psychological health, or in combination.
- The Emerging Topics Research Award intends to accelerate research in emerging topics in traumatic brain injury and/or psychological health. Findings from funded research should ultimately support the generation of new or updated clinical applications, health care products, and clinical practice guidelines for Service Members, their Families, Veterans, and the American public.
- The Focused Program Award’s goal is to accelerate the development of solutions to critical question(s) related to at least one sub-area within one of the three FY24 TBIPHRP FPA Focus Areas. The award mechanism supports execution of a synergistic, multidisciplinary research program with the potential to have a significant impact on psychological health conditions and/or TBI through clinical applications, including health care products, technologies, and/or practice guidelines. Applications may propose applied/preclinical/clinical research (including clinical trials). Hypothesis-driven health services research, implementation science, and follow-up care research are also within scope for this mechanism
- The Translational Research Award intends to accelerate the conversion of research findings in psychological health and/or TBI into clinical applications. Funded research outcomes should lead to the development of health care products, technologies, and/or clinical practice guidelines that improve patient outcomes.
