Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Breast Cancer Breakthrough Awards. The intent of these Awards is to support promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. Scope: Research proposed under this award mechanism may be small- to large-scale projects, at different stages of idea and research development. Two different funding levels, based on the scope of the research, are available under this Program Announcement: Funding Levels 3 and 4.
•    Funding Level 3: Advanced translational studies that have potential for near-term clinical investigation. Small-scale clinical trials may apply.
•    Funding Level 4: Large-scale projects that will transform and revolutionize the clinical management and/or prevention of breast cancer. Near-term clinical impact is expected. Human clinical testing is required. PIs are expected to have experience in successfully leading large-scale projects.
 
Funding:       Maximum USD $2’500’000 (Level 3)
                      Maximum USD $10’000’000 (Level 4)
 
Eligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Academics at all levels are eligible to apply.
 
How to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information, a pre-proposal narrative, supporting documentation, and a list of collaborators and key personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.
