Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Breast Cancer Breakthrough Awards. The intent of these Awards is to support promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. Scope: Research proposed under this award mechanism may be small- to large-scale projects, at different stages of idea and research development. Two different funding levels, based on the scope of the research, are available under this Program Announcement: Funding Levels 1 and 2.
  • Funding Level 1: Innovative, high-risk/high-reward research that is in the earliest stages of idea development. Research with potential to yield new avenues of investigation. Proof of concept. No preliminary data required.
  • Funding Level 2: Research that is already supported by preliminary data and has potential to make significant advancements toward clinical translation.
 
Funding:    Maximum USD $375’000 (Level 1)
                   Maximum USD $750’000 (Level 2)
 
Eligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Academics at all levels, including senior postdocs, are eligible to apply.
 
How to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information, a letter of intent, and a list of collaborators and key personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.
