Event details

Date 20.09.2018
Category Call for proposal
Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Epilepsy Research Program (ERP) for 2018. The intent of the ERP Idea Development Award is to solicit research to understand the magnitude and underlying mechanisms of post-traumatic epilepsy.

The FY18 ERP IDA offers two levels of funding.  Funding Level I is intended to support high-risk or high-gain applications with Principal Investigators (PIs) at or above the level of a postdoctoral fellow (or equivalent), but below the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent).  Funding Level II is intended to support a more mature, hypothesis-driven research project.  For a Funding Level II application, the PI must be an independent investigator at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent).

The research impact for the FY18 ERP IDA is expected to benefit the military, Veteran, and civilian communities.  To this end, applications should address at least one of the FY18 ERP IDA Focus Areas.  The Focus Areas are listed at the end of this announcement. An application that proposes research outside of these Focus Areas is acceptable, as long as the applicant provides a strong rationale.

Funding:       Funding Level I - Maximum USD $ 300’000
Funding Level II – Maximum USD $ 500’000

Duration:      Funding Level I – 2 years
Funding Level II – 3 years

Eligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply, and there are no citizenship restrictions. For applications at Funding Level I, investigators should be at or above the level of post-doc, but not yet at the level of Assistant Professor. For Funding Level II, investigators should be at the level of Assistant Professor or above.

How to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information, a list of collaborators and key personnel, a letter of intent, and supporting documents as suggested on the platform.
