Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), the Department of Defense is announcing the Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) for 2018. The Career Development Award supports independent, early-career investigators to conduct impactful research with the guidance of an experienced cancer researcher (i.e., the Career Guide). This award supports impactful research projects with an emphasis on discovery. Preliminary data are not required. However, logical reasoning and a sound scientific rationale for the proposed research must be demonstrated.
 
To be considered for funding, applications for the FY18 PRCRP Career Development Award must address at least one of the FY18 PRCRP Topic Areas as directed by Congress. In addition, applications must also address at least one of the FY18 PRCRP Military Relevance Focus Areas. These lists are given at the end of this announcement.
 
Funding: Maximum USD $ 360’000
 
Duration: 3 years
 
Eligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at or above the level of Assistant Professor who are £ 10 years past their terminal degree are eligible to submit applications. The Career Guide must hold a position at or above the level of Associate Professor.
 
How to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information, a list of collaborators and key personnel, a letter of intent, and supporting documents as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.
