Hose : Nouchine Hadjikhani Abstract Far from the perceptual “islets of abilities” described in the early era of studies on information processing in autism, there is now evidence for multiple types of perceptual and non-perceptual tasks in which autistic people display superior performance in comparison to nonautistics. Although any comparison in performance is dependent on matching strategy and group selection, it is doubtful that superior autistic performance can be reduced to a trivial side effect of either of these two factors. This presentation will expose the areas in which autistics present superior performances, and will attempt to classify the various overlapping dimensions that may contribute to enhanced information processing in savant and non-savant autistics.
