The Swiss Integrative Center for Human Health is located in the former Cardinal brewery, where the canton and the town of Fribourg are creating the blueFACTORY technology park.
SICHH was jointly launched in 2012 by Fribourg University (UNIFR) and the Fribourg Hospital (HFR) within the contest of ideas initiated by blueFACTORY for its development. The proposed public-private partnership aims to provide companies, scientists and clinicians with advanced equipment and highly specialized skills in the areas of medical technology (MedTech), biotechnology (BioTech), food technology (FoodTech), pharmaceuticals and all areas related to human health. Occupying over a thousand square meters, the center will offer specialized expertise and equipments to its users in four highly complementary areas:
Genome sequencing and proteomics (engineering of proteins);
Microscopy and materials characterization;
The human-machine interaction and an effective visualization of complex results;
Analysis and interpretation of results; modelling and simulation data.
But equipment is not everything. The SICHH will also offer to its customers and partners access to highly skilled specialists entirely focused on user needs. This new concept will enable small and medium-sized innovative enterprises (SMEs), start-ups and larges companies to outsource part of their research and development (R&D).
The SICHH budget is 12 million Swiss francs. The SICHH aims at self-financing.
