After the successful PhDs in Transitions Conference at Greenwich University in April 2016, we proudly present the follow-up meeting, the 2nd PhDs in Transitions Conference 2017 “Sustainability Transitions: Theory and Practice“ 27-28 April, 2017 – at the EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland.
  • The conference is organized by the “PhDs in Transitions”, a network of PhDs and early career researchers (ERCs) in Sustainability Transitions, which is a complement to  the Sustainability Transitions Research Network (STRN).
The aim of the upcoming conference is to discuss and exchange theoretical frameworks, interesting cases, developments and challenges in transition research and additionally explore how transition research can be useful for practice. The conference is designed as an interactive and small-scale event, especially serving the needs of PhDs and early career researchers.
  • The two-day conference will be shaped by interactive sessions on:
    • Presentations and discussion of the delegates’ work,
    • Theoretical and methodical inputs through workshops from senior scientists.
    • Workshops on the application of transition research in practice facilitated by practitioners.
Senior scientist will join the discussions on the delegates’ work and will provide theoretical, methodical and practical feedback in an open and constructive atmosphere. Key-note speakers will be: Bernhard Truffer, (Utrecht University & Eawag) Jochen Markard (ETH Zürich) and Claudia R. Binder (EPFL).  
  • If you do not want to miss out on participating in this unique, interactive and productive event, submit your 400-word extended abstract with the indication for your thematic track (see call for abstracts), and your short biography (max. 100 words) in electronic form to [email protected] by Monday, 6th February 2017.
We will respond to all applicants by Monday, 20th February 2017.
