HRC contributes to the 2024 edition of Lausanne Jardins!
Faced with the challenges of global warming, cities need to reimagine themselves and their open spaces. As part of the Lausanne Jardins Festival, HRC develops a sponge city prototype in the Vallée de la Jeunesse circulation garden. The aim is to achieve a sustainable transformation by applying the concept of the sponge city, a solution for mitigating the effects of surface runoff, which is responsible for two-thirds of urban flood damage.
Following a public-private partnership signed in October 2023 and supported by the City of Lausanne, Lausanne Jardins and La Mobilière are joining forces to develop this sponge city project; the HRC team is involved in scientific coordination and design development.
