The Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development (r4d programme) is a joint funding initiative by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The r4d programme supports research aimed at solving global problems with a focus on least developed, low and middle income countries.

The third thematically open call of the r4d programme supports research on global issues in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Deadline for pre-proposals: 12th of June 2017
Deadline for full proposals: 8th of January 2018
Funding : up to CHF 600'000
Duration : 4 years
Subject : The thematically open module invites high-quality research that contributes to the solution of global problems in least-developed, low- and middle-income countries. The topics in this module will be defined bottom-up, i.e. by the researchers themselves. The projects will be evaluated in two stages (pre-proposals, full proposals).
