On September 21st, EPFL will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its flagship experiment, the Tokamak à Configuration Variable (TCV). Operated by the Swiss Plasma Center as part of the EUROfusion Consortium, it is one of the key European facilities for the ITER project, which aims to demonstrate the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion as an energy source, and the development of DEMO, whose objective is to prove its commercial feasibility. The TCV Tokamak represents a major asset in the global effort to develop fusion and integrate Switzerland into the European research area.
