3ie - International Initiative For Impact Evaluation, an international NGO with headquarters in India, invites organisations and consortia to submit proposals to undertake qualitative evaluations on women’s self-help groups (SHGs) in rural India under two research themes:
  • The impact of SHG and their federations on multi-dimensional measures of women’s empowerment; and
  • The role of SHG federations, such as village organisations and cluster-level federations, in determining SHG quality and functioning.
These studies are expected to inform a large-scale, rigorous impact evaluation of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) programme that 3ie is currently undertaking.
 
Who can apply:
  • Consortia of researchers based at a legally registered organisation anywhere in the world, but including at least one researcher who is an Indian resident.
  • Researchers can submit more than one proposal and participate in more than one consortia.
 
Funding: max. USD 45,000 for up to 5 months.
  • Eligible costs: personnel and other direct costs, incl. consultancy, travel, survey costs.
  • Does NOT cover overheads, equipment, nor salaries and implementing costs from implementing and government agencies.
  • Co-funding of studies already supported by other donors is permitted.
