Twenty-four documents from the Heinz Hossdorf and Florian Vischer fonds, on loan from the Archives of Modern Construction (ACM), are presented in the exhibition 8 Buildings, 1 Engineer: The Architecture of Heinz Hossdorf, at gta Exhibitions, ETH Zurich, until 20 February.
Conceived by Alexandra Calvet Bordas, Rémy Crettenand, Fiona Hatz, and Lars Klemensberger, with scientific coordination by Giulia Boller (ETH Zurich), the exhibition is supported by the Chair of Theory of Architecture (Prof. Laurent Stalder, ETH Zurich), Prof. Elke Genzel (HTW Berlin), as well as the gta Archive and gta Exhibitions.
The exhibition offers an in-depth reading of eight emblematic projects by Heinz Hossdorf (1925–2006), a major civil engineer in twentieth-century Swiss architecture, whose work lies at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and technological innovation. The documents on loan from the ACM—including project files, plans and drawings, photographs, critical writings, and publications—shed particular light on the Les Échanges pavilion of the 1964 Swiss National Exhibition in Lausanne, as well as on later projects, including the Swiss Pavilion for the 1992 World Exposition in Seville.
All practical and scholarly information is available on the official website of the organizers and gta Exhibitions.
