The changing definition of work today demands a new conception of the office space. The increasing integration of informality, pleasure, and even play — notions often seen as the antithesis of work — into the office has profound implications on the architectural evolution of the work place. Through a selection of historical and contemporary projects by architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Kenzo Tange, SANAA and many others, as well as speculations by students of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, the exhibition reconsiders the deep plan within the European context for a discussion on density, economy and, not least, sustainability.  The projects, documented in drawings, photographs, and large-scale models, take depth as an opportunity to address ideas of flexibility, identity, and atmosphere in the contemporary workspace.

Vernissage and Book Launch with a lecture by Iñaki Ábalos, director of Ábalos + Sentkiewicz, and Chair of the Architecture Department at Harvard Graduate School of Design, on Wednesday June 5th at 6.30pm (free entry). Discussion and apéro will follow.
